North Florida Land Trust is a nonprofit organization committed to protecting and preserving the natural heritage of North Florida. We work to ensure these treasured lands will be protected and enjoyed by future generations.
North Florida Land Trust, founded in 1999, is a local land conservation organization focused on protecting ecologically, agriculturally, and historically significant lands. We preserve land throughout Northeast Florida; focusing on Baker, Bradford, Clay, Columbia, Duval, Flagler, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, Union and Volusia counties. We work on an as-needed based elsewhere in North Florida. Throughout the years, we have protected thousands of acres of environmentally significant land.
We utilize the most current decision-making tools and technology to protect these natural and cultural resources through acquisition, donation, and other strategies. We manage and maintain these lands for sustainability, health, and value. Our regional footprint and our vast knowledge and experience give us a deep understanding of how community, people, government, and business integrate within the environmental value chain. The result is an unprecedented ability to protect and preserve land for future generations.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded largely by private and corporate contributions. Contributions from our donors are tax deductible.
How we work
We acquire land either through donations and purchases of land or conservation easements.
- Donations – We accept donations from private land owners, businesses, and government entities.
- Purchases – We buy land with significant conservation value such as those lands mapped out in our preservation portfolio.
When we work with private land owners, we work with them in a way that considers their needs as well as the needs of the natural resources. Every project is a balancing act between the land owner’s future needs and the property, as well as the preservation of the environment. We work with individuals, businesses, and governments through donations and purchases.
