Are you interested in seeing if your land is in one of our special focus areas? While NFLT is willing to working with interested landowners anywhere, there are some areas we have identified which are of the highest priority to the ongoing environmental health, maintenance of our working farms and timberlands, and preserving our cultural legacy, here in North Florida. These special focus areas can fall into one of two areas. The first is our Preservation Portfolio, composed of 15 discrete areas across Northeast Florida focused around different natural or working lands features – streams, lakes, sand ridges, farming communities, working forest areas. These areas were selected for their particular significance to our region, their threat of development and their importance in our future resilience. The second area is within the Ocala-to-Osceola Greenway (the “O2O” Greenway), a 100 mile long wildlife corridor that connects Ocala National Forest in Central Florida to Osceola National Forest in North Florida. Within this corridor NFLT is seeking to preserve a mixture of working farms, timberland and natural areas to ensure that wildlife has room to roam forever.
Landowners can see if their land falls within any of these distinct focus areas, and find more about the focus areas below:
