Conservation is often driven by communities, and NFLT partners with communities across our service area to make their conservation goals a realty. The citizens of Volusia County and Ormond Beach, and the environmental group, Dream Green Volusia have spoken up to save their beloved Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail (the Loop). To help this effort, NFLT is offering the community an opportunity to make donations to save the Loop!
The Loop is a nationally recognized 34-mile thoroughfare winding along the Tomoka River, Hallifax River and the Atlantic Ocean, and meandering through four state parks. Visitors travel by car, motorcycle and bicycle to see native plants and animals, hike old-Florida trails and see historic sites. The Loop has been designated a National Scenic Byway and a Florida Scenic Highway due to its intrinsic historic, natural, recreational, and scenic qualities.
The most pressing issue facing the loop is the potential development of 76 lots at the Plantation Oaks subdivision (the Plantation Lots), which have been offered for sale to the Volusia County Council.
The Council has a very short window and limited dollars to save these properties, and you have the opportunity to help “bridge the gap” to make this purchase a reality. Your gift today will go directly to protecting the Plantation Lots, and if the Plantation Lots cannot be saved, your gift will be used within the Loop Buffer Area to protect other important lands.

Don’t wait! Contribute before April 19 to help Save the Loop!
